At War: Bigger's Id, Ego, and Superego Compete

1. "He had his hand on the doorknob, waiting, his muscles taut. He had to be careful with his answers now. And yet he knew he had a certain protection; he knew that a certain element of shame would keep Mrs. Dalton from asking him too much and letting him know that she was worried. He was a boy and she was an old woman. He was the hired and she was the hirer. And there was a certain distance to be kept between them" (p. 121).
2. "But of the whole business there was one angle that bothered him; he should have gotten more money out of it; he should have planned it. He had acted too hastily and accidentally. Next time things would be much different; he would plan and arrange so that he would have money enough to keep him a long time" (p. 123).

in the first quote Bigger is imagining that Ms.Dalton is somewhat scared of Bigger but it also obvious that Bigger is also scared of her because the book describes Bigger's muscles as "taunt" which is another way of being. the reason of him being so scared is that he just killed marry and he doesn't probably want kill a another white person. the second quote just makes me angry because at first i thought Bigger did not approve of what he did with Marry, but this quote just proves that Bigger just doesn't care that he killed
 Marry because he is taking advantage of the situation. based on these two quotes i can say that bigger is a bit of a coward when he is going to face a white human person, but if he stays Anonymously he is not afraid to do things.

My Reaction to the murder in Native Son

It was quite rather surprising to see Bigger accidentally kill Marry . In truth I thought that Bigger was going to get away with taking marry home but instead he kills her. When Bigger Thomas suffocates her with a pillow that actually made the story much more interesting but I would never expected to hear he decapitated her and burned the evidence. I must be crazy because that gave me such satisfaction. But in reality, when you kill someone by accident who wouldn't be nervous?
